Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], April 11: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar acknowledged that they didn't bat well despite expecting a good batting wicket after losing to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 24th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
He believed the batters were focused, but the collapse from 80/1 to 90/4 was unacceptable. He praised Tim David's acceleration and the bowling in the powerplay and emphasized the need to play good cricket and keep things simple, regardless of their away record.
'I think the way we saw the wicket was quite different. We thought it was a nice batting wicket, but we didn't bat well. I don't think so (if the batters were overconfident); every batter was in a good frame of mind, showing proper intent. But it wasn't acceptable to go from 80 for 1 to 90 for 4, we have a good batting line-up, but we need to assess the situation. That has been positive. The way Tim David accelerated was amazing, and the bowling in the powerplay was special. We aren't thinking about our away record, but we just need to play good cricket and keep it simple,' Rajat Patidar said in the post-match presentation.
The spinning combination of Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam staged an impressive recovery as Delhi Capitals limited Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a reasonable 163/7 in their IPL encounter on Thursday. While chasing, KL Rahul (93* off 53) shines as DC beats RCB by six wickets.
A brilliant finish by KL Rahul propelled DC to their fourth win, and Axar Patel's remarkable leadership was instrumental in the success. Even with a noteworthy team performance, Royal Challengers Bengaluru experienced consecutive losses at home, registering their second tournament defeat.
